Welcome to The Practice

The Practice is a member of the Waltham Forest Primary Care Trust. This independent Trust is responsible for delivering health services to local people.

This is an old established practice dating back to the 1960s Dr P.M. Kawar (the principal GP) took over from Dr Bloomfield in 1994.

We are a eight doctor practice 3 males and 5 females. We also have a Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses and a Health Care Assistant.

The surgery is located within St James Health Centre, 47 St James Street, Walthamstow, London E17 7NH. Telephone 020 3233 0870.

Access to the Health Centre and its consulting rooms is available for disabled visitors.

Car parking facilities are available at the public Pay and Display Car Park adjacent to the Health Centre.

We are proud to be recognised both as a Teaching Practice for Undergraduate Students from the Royal London and Barts & Royal Free/University College London Medical Schools and as a Post Graduate Training Practice for GP Registrars.

You may sometimes see a medical student in addition to the Doctor. This is an essential part of student training for future doctors; all student activity is supervised by your doctor. If, however, you wish to be seen alone, a quick word with the receptionist will ensure you can do so without embarrassment. Some consultations may be videoed for learning purposes for doctors under training but never without your written consent.

We are fully computerised and it is important that data is kept up to date. We would therefore be grateful if you could tell us promptly if you change your name, address, telephone number etc.
